Dedicated Packages Definition
When we talk about hosting web servers, there are 3 main categories - hosting servers, VPS (Virtual Private Servers) and dedicated packages. Shared web servers host plenty of customers and hence the resources per user account are restricted, VPS give you more server configuration independence, but also influence other Virtual Private Servers on the hardware node if utilized heedlessly, and dedicated servers offer you the chance to carry out everything you prefer without intervening with anyone else.
Why would you require a dedicated servers?
Dedicated servers are usually much more high-priced than shared servers or virtual private web hosting servers. Why would anyone, then, want to use them? The explanation is rather simple. If your firm has a resource-devouring website, or simply has very explicit web server configuration requirements, the smartest option is a dedicated servers. For somebody who is inclined to invest in security and dependability, the greater price is not an issue. You gain full root-level access and can use 100% of the dedicated hosting server's resources without anyone else sharing these system resources and messing with your web portals.
Hardware configurations
The majority of hosting vendors, including us at Epacket, provide several hardware architectures you can choose from based on your needs. The hardware configurations include different varieties of processors, a different amount of cores, different RAM and disk drive sizes and different bandwidth allowances. You can pick a web hosting CP, which is a handy tool if you wish to utilize the dedicated servers for website hosting purposes solely and prefer not to use an SSH console for all the changes you will be making. We offer three types of hosting Control Panel software - Hepsia, DirectAdmin and cPanel.
The hosting Control Panel of your choice
If you are a self-assured Linux OS user (our dedicated hosting web servers are running on Linux or other Unix-based OSs), you could administer your dedicated packages via SSH exclusively. That, however, could be inconvenient, especially if you want to grant full root privileges to someone else who has less technical skills than yourself. That is why having web hosting CP software activated is a fine idea. The Hepsia Control Panel interface that we provide does not include full root-level access and is chiefly appropriate for someone who owns many web sites that require plenty of system resources, but would rather administer the websites, databases and mail aliases using an intuitive web hosting Control Panel. The DirectAdmin and cPanel hosting CPs, on the other hand, grant full root access and offer three levels of access - root, reseller and user. If you plan to resell web hosting packages instead of utilizing the dedicated servers only for yourself, you should select one of these two.
Web server monitoring and backup services
Last but not least, there is the matter of monitoring the dedicated servers and of backing it up. In the event of a problem with your dedicated server, such as a non-responsive Apache or a network downtime, it is useful to have some sort of monitoring platform enabled. Here at Epacket the system administrators monitor all dedicated servers for ping timeouts, and, if you have a Managed Services package, they monitor the separate services on the dedicated servers as well. Backups are also an additional feature - the web hosting supplier offers you data backups on our own backup servers. You could select a type of RAID that would allow you to save the same data on 2 server hard disks as a precaution in the event of a server hard disk failure, or in case someone whom you have ranted access erases something accidentally.
